Free Pakistan Freelancer FBR Tax Return Preparation Pack

What this is

Who it's for: Pakistani freelancers preparing their records for FBR filing and Active Taxpayer List status.

Get your freelancer records organised early for the next filing season, with an FBR IRIS preparation checklist, an income and expense log, PSEB registration steps and an ATL status checklist.

Free in full — download it and use it on your own freelance work.

Guidance only, not a tax filing, not affiliated with FBR. This pack is general guidance for preparing your own records. It is not a tax filing, not tax advice, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) or the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB). The actual return must still be filed on FBR's IRIS portal using the prescribed form — this workbook is preparation only, and it does not calculate tax liability.

User manual

  1. Work through the IRIS preparation checklist in the Word pack.
  2. Log income and expenses in the workbook, using the Return Mapping sheet to match entries to general return areas.
  3. Check your ATL status with the ATL checklist, including what to do if you missed the deadline.
  4. Use the six-year document checklist and the next-year preparation calendar to stay organised.

Requirements

Questions

Is this a tax filing?

No. Guidance only, not a tax filing, not affiliated with FBR. It prepares your records; the actual return must still be filed on FBR's IRIS portal.

Why is it pitched for next year, not 'file now'?

The Tax Year 2026 filing deadline of 31 October 2026 has just passed. This pack is for getting organised early for the next filing season and, if you missed the deadline, for checking your ATL status and preparing properly rather than rushing a late return.

What does the workbook cover?

Four sheets: How to Use, Income Log, Expense Log, and Summary with formula totals by income type and expense category plus a count of expenses missing receipts, along with Return Mapping.

Why do some items say 'check the official portal'?

Where published sources disagreed at the time of writing — the PSEB freelancer fee, how often the ATL updates, late-filer surcharge amounts and a banking-channel condition — this pack says so and tells you to check the official FBR and PSEB portals instead of stating a figure that may be wrong.

Does it calculate my tax?

No. It does not calculate tax liability and no figure in it is a promise about tax repayments, savings or ATL outcomes. If your situation is unusual, ask a qualified tax professional.
